Fighting Those Winter Blues
Maryland Farm and Harvest - Ginger Segment
We were featured in a Maryland Farm and Harvest episode on PBS in December talking about how we grow and use ginger. Watch it here to learn all our secrets about growing young ginger! It starts 18 minute, 21 seconds in.
Friends,
I have been really enjoying winter so far! How about you? I feel better this winter than I have past winters. Why? I’ve been working out! People always told me how important working out is for mood enhancement and general motivation. For some reason I alway shrugged this advice off. I usually get into some kind of a funk in the winter. Maybe it’s seasonal affective disorder or maybe it’s just side effect of laziness. In addition to being more motivated day to day and feeling happier, I actually feel younger with my new workout routine! I’m going to be 40 this year and the past year or so I noticed my body starting to feel older. My balance wasn’t as good, I was having strange aches and pains and I was starting to struggle with simple things like lifting our toddler into the carseat. I thought I was just getting older but it turns out I just wasn’t taking care of myself. Now that I workout three times a week I feel stronger, have better balance, more mental clarity and just generally feel better. I hope this inspires some of you to go workout. Feel free to join me at the YMCA in Towson or Westminster some time! Sometimes having a buddy to hold us accountable can help. You deserve to feel good!
