Frostmas!
Greetings!
I’m once again away from the farm (a much needed vacation this week) so I don’t have a whole lot of insight as to what’s been happening at Two Boots, but I do know that we finally got a frost this week! This long awaited frost finally brings us to the end of cut flower season, and we can finally begin to clean up the beds we continued to cut from all season long and put the farm to sleep. This has been an exhausting season for everyone, and we’re all ready for a long winter’s nap.
I stopped by the farm last Friday to take care of a few things and the seasonal change that happened over the course of a week off site was drastic! I imagine that when I return on Monday I’ll be utterly shocked by the turn of the seasons. While I’ve been away, the crew planted out our first ranunculus and dug up the dahlias in the high tunnels. We’d initially planned to keep the dahlias in a bit longer for post-frost harvesting, but we needed the space sooner than we’d expected, and they weren’t producing enough blooms to make leaving them in the ground worthwhile.
In the next week or so, we’ll focus on crop removal, preparing our field dahlias for overwintering, and get the last few cool season flowers planted. Then we’ll move on to hardcore wreath making mode!

Sunday, November 7th, 8:00 am - 11:00 am: Johnny’s
We’ll be back at our regular market this weekend with lots of good stuff to share.
This week we’ll have carrots, celery, figs, garlic, persimmons, radishes, shiitakes, spring mix, and the last of the season’s shishito peppers. Our produce offerings for the year are dwindling, but we’ll do our best to bring a good selection to market weekly.
We’ll have plenty of bouquets, in addition to bunches of celosia, mums, and eucalyptus- likely the last blooms of the year. We’ll also have some succulents available.
And, of course, wreaths are back!
Wishing you well,
Amelia and the rest of the Two Boots Farm crew
We’ve still got some gorgeous veggies kicking around!

Elisa’s dad recently requested that we include a photo of one of the Two Boots pets in the newsletter each week and it’s a request I’m absolutely thrilled to oblige. This week it’s Gray again, next week I’ll try to get a good one of Harry!
