Two Boots Farm

A family run farm and floral design studio in Hampstead, Maryland. We grow a wide variety of cut flowers and produce. We also have over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. We use ecologically sustainable practices so that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil.


Farm Hand- position open immediately 

Two Boots Farm is looking for a Farm Hand to join us part/full time for the rest of the 2024 season.  We are flexible with this position and open to hiring someone 4 days a week (32 hours) - 5 days a week (40 hours). There’s room for growth with this position.  We are ultimately looking for someone who can return for the 2025 season full time.  

The Farm Hand will work alongside the Farm Manager, owner and our other employees, engaging in all aspects of day-to-day work on the farm. Our season runs until late November.  We work 8 hour days, generally from 7am-3pm. 

Two Boots Farm is a woman-owned small, intensive farm raising cut flowers and specialty produce in Carroll County, Maryland.  2024 marks our eleventh season in production. Our goods are sold at Baltimore City farmers’ markets, and florists in Baltimore, DC and NOVA. We also design with our flowers for weddings and events.  We use intensive farming techniques on 2 acres, and implement no-till practices. We also grow ginger and have a pawpaw orchard. 

The farm hand will participate in all aspects of production including:

  • communication - with other employees, the Farm Manager and Owner

  • planting- greenhouse management, bed preparation, transplanting, and direct seeding

  • growing- weeding, trellising, pest and disease management, irrigation

  • harvesting- participating in the flower harvest most days of the season. Our hot summers require us to harvest quickly in the mornings, working efficiently with an eye for quality.

  • marketing- assisting with farmers market sales and deliveries. We have one Sunday farmers market and would require working at the market a few times a year. 

  • design - weekly bouquet making and occasional help with wedding design 

Ideal background and skills include: 

  • 2+ years of organic farming experience, preferably with some knowledge of cut flower production

  • excellent communication skills

  • ability to work well both independently and as a team

  • a capable problem solver

  • Excellent work ethic and positive attitude

  • pays close attention to detail while working efficiently

  • physical stamina and the ability to work in all kinds of weather

  • willingness to commit to the farm for the full year, ideally more

Salary and benefits: 

  • $16-18/hour, from now until late November (based on experience) 

  • Cumulative paid time off

  • End of season bonus.
