Remembering a Dear Friend
Greetings friends,
It’s been a difficult week for us here at Two Boots. Last Friday, Elisa’s beloved dog Iris passed away suddenly. It only seems right to dedicate today’s newsletter to remembering her.
Iris was an extraordinary friend and companion to all of us at the farm. Her kind eyes and sweet smile never failed to bring peace in a stressful moment. She never failed to alert us when a visitor arrived, and her constant vigilance meant that we rarely had to struggle with groundhogs or rabbits eating our crops.
Elisa adopted Iris the spring she started Two Boots, and Iris was a farm dog, through and through. She was also a deeply kind, loyal companion, and truly the best dog I’ve ever known. Iris would follow Elisa throughout the day, checking in on her between jaunts in the woods chasing rabbits and deer. She’d come visit us in the barn while we made bouquets, and on hot days, take breaks in our cooler to chill out. Iris knew every inch of the land, probably better than the rest of us. She had free range of the farm, but she was never far away for too long. Her presence was grounding and calming. Iris brought us so much love and joy, and we love and miss her so much. We are so lucky to have had her in our lives.

We’ll be back at the market this weekend with arugula, beets, cucumbers, spring mix, and shishito peppers.
We’ll have loads of bouquets, in addition to bunches of sunflowers, rudbeckia, nigella, and cosmos.
Wishing you all the best,
Amelia and the rest of the Two Boots Farm crew
It’s shishito season! Toss them in a hot pan with oil and fry until blistered. Top with flaky sea salt and enjoy a simple, delighful appetizer.
