Working hard and having fun
Greetings friends,
It’s been a whirlwind of a week on the farm! Elisa is on vacation, but that hasn’t stopped us from accomplishing a lot of field work and harvesting. We’ve been lucky to have several friends and former employees helping us out on the farm this week, which has brought great joy to the hard work. There’s been a lot of laughter ringing through the fields in the past several days.
We didn’t have too many florist orders this week, which meant we had more time for field maintenance. We finally finished cutting down most of our spring flower crops, and we transplanted another round of summer and autumn flowers. We’ve managed to do some tomato maintenance (we should have some at market soon, they’re taking their sweet time ripening), dug ranunculus corms, and finished a massive weeding project. It feels good to have everything in such good shape, and to know that while it happened, Elisa got to take a break!
The fields look so lush right now! This season we’ve really managed to use every little bit of free space. There are very few times a bed sits empty for more than a week, which hasn’t always been the case here. We’re growing so much!
A glorious van full of florist orders on Thursday morning. This week we harvested the first of our lisianthus. We’re growing some new varieties this year and it’s so exciting to meet them!
Sunday, July 18th, 8:00 am - 11:00 am: Johnny’s
We’ll be back at the market this weekend with arugula, beets, cucumbers, spring mix, shishito peppers, and cherry tomatoes.
We’ll have loads of bouquets, in addition to bunches of dahlias, rudbeckia, and cosmos.
Enjoy the weekend,
Amelia and the rest of the Two Boots Farm crew
We’ll have lots of summer bouquets coming your way at market this week!
