2024 Plant Sale + We're Hiring!

Greetings, and Happy New Year!

I hope you all were able to find time for rest and relaxation over the holidays. We took some time off to be with family and friends and now we’re gearing up for another busy season. This time of year there’s a small amount of farm work to do— greenhouse seeding, high tunnel weeding, setting mouse traps— but mostly, we’re tucked away in our offices, scheming the year to come. Elisa is hard at work on many projects, but especially on a plan to set up solar power on the farm, and I’ve been focused on crop planning and getting our website ready for our annual seedling sale. And that, my friends, is what we’re here to talk about!

We know that, if you’re anything like us, you’ve been using the depths of winter to dream about this year’s garden.

Our 2024 Plant Sale will go live on Monday, January 15th, so now’s the time to start your garden planning in earnest! As always, we have multiple pickup locations in Baltimore, DC, and Carroll County. This year we have an order minimum of $24. For folks who pick up on the farm, we’re offering a 10% discount for on-farm pickup, use the code 2BOOTSPICKUP at checkout.

Find additional details about the Plant Sale on our website.

The seedlings we grow for our annual plant sale are all varieties we’ve grown ourselves and know to perform well in this region. Everything is grown in our greenhouse using organic methods. We take great pride and joy in sending healthy plants into the world, and do our best to maintain quality and grow vigorous seedlings.

If you’d rather choose your plants in person, worry not! We’ll be back at the JFX Market and Flower Mart this year, just in time for you to plant your gardens.

In other news, we’re hiring! Two Boots is looking for a farmhand to join our crew for the 2024 season.

The position can be either part-time (4 days) or full-time (5 days) and involves harvesting, planting, crop maintenance, and floral design.

If this sounds like the job for you or someone you know, please check out the position description and consider applying.

Last but not least, a reminder that if you’re planning a wedding or event this year, check out our a la carte Wedding and Event Boutique.

For now, that’s all the farm news I’ve got to share. We’ve got our fingers crossed for snow in the coming weeks, and we’re looking forward to seeing the first blooms open in our tunnels. We’ve still got a big chunk of winter to make it through before that happens, so in the mean time we’ll keep on with the planning, organizing, and a bit of relaxing.

Thanks for reading, and take care!
