Two Boots Farm

A family run farm and floral design studio in Hampstead, Maryland. We grow a wide variety of cut flowers and produce. We also have over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. We use ecologically sustainable practices so that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil.

Turning the corner

Greetings, farm friends!

I’m off the farm this week due to illness, but Elisa and the crew have been hard at work keeping up with the long September to do list.

Unfortunately, due to the season’s poor crop, we’ve cancelled our popup at Dupont Circle this weekend. We’re saddened that we won’t be able to attend this year, but we just don’t have enough fruit to make it worthwhile.

One of the major challenges of farming is dealing with crop losses like the one we experienced with the pawpaws this year. We go into the year hoping for the best, and we do everything we can to ensure that we’ll have a good harvest, but weather events are beyond our control. Pawpaws, in particular, are a major portion of the farm’s income each year, and so it’s incredibly difficult to face such a loss.

As fall begins, we’re trying to put our pawpaw woes behind us and look towards harvesting heirloom mums and ornamental kale, cleaning up the fields, and preparing for a season of rest.

The fall flowers are so colorful!

We’re back at the JFX Market this Sunday, September 24th.

This week’s market availability will feature bouquets, basil, bunches of dahlias, eucalyptus, celosia, millet, sunflowers, and of course, our build your own bouquet bar. And PAWPAWS!

Thanks for reading, and enjoy these waning summer days!
