Rolling along
Hello!
We’re cooling off after last week’s heat and the intense humidity we experienced earlier this week. Working in that weather sure is tough! We made it through the heavy storms unscathed, and the rain was a welcome gift. Our plants are happy and the farm is buzzing with pollinators and birds these days. Dahlias are in full bloom now, and the pawpaw harvest will begin in no time!
These are the last slow moments of the summer season; next week we’ve got a big wedding to design for and once September hits we’ll have our plates full with the pawpaw harvest and what looks like the busiest wedding season ever. As we gear up for the onslaught of work, we’re making sure we’ve got plenty of vegetables seeded for the fall harvest, doing crop maintenance like weeding and trellising, and tying up loose ends around the farm. Come September, everyone on the farm will be spending most of their time harvesting and packing orders, and then once October rolls around, it’ll be time to begin wrapping up the season and putting our fields to sleep for the winter. I can’t believe how quickly this season has gone by! It seems like just yesterday that we were working on the barn and putting up our new high tunnels.
Sunday, August 22nd, 8:00 am - 11:00 am: Johnny’s
We’ll be back at the market this weekend with so many goodies!
This week we’ll have arugula, basil, beets, spring mix, shishito peppers, tomatoes, and cherry tomatoes.
We’ll have loads of bouquets, in addition to bunches of celosia, cosmos, dahlias, lisianthus, rudbeckia triloba, and hydrangeas by the stem.
Enjoy the weekend,
Amelia and the rest of the Two Boots Farm crew
