Two Boots Farm

A family run farm and floral design studio in Hampstead, Maryland. We grow a wide variety of cut flowers and produce. We also have over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. We use ecologically sustainable practices so that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil.

Spring has Sprung

Greetings, farm friends!

Spring has arrived and we’re gearing up for the busy season ahead. Tulip season started about two weeks ahead of schedule this year, and anemones and poppies have begun to roll in as well. It was off to the races as soon as the Spring equinox hit this year!

Our crew returns to their regular schedules on Monday, and we’ve got a busy week in store. We’ll be planting woody perennials, pruning pawpaws, and doing a whole lot of staking and netting. Meanwhile, Elisa and I are wrapping up loose ends around the farm— cleaning, organizing, printing documents, and tending to the fields in between all of the administrative chores. It’s been a busy off-season, but we’re looking forward to all that spring has to offer.

Curious about what, exactly, we’ve got going on this season, or anything else about Two Boots, flowers, or your farmers? We’re planning to do an Ask Me Anything on Instagram— feel free to respond to this newsletter with questions, or shoot us a dm @twobootsfarm!

Hellebores are the star of the early spring show,

One of the things we’re particularly excited about this spring is hosting a workshop with Cynthia Flores, of Labor- Movement. Cynthia is a personal trainer and functional movement coach whose mission is to help farmers improve their movement health and wellness, increase efficiency or extend longevity in a season or career.

As a person who began working on farmers at 17 and continues to do so at 32, I must say, I wish someone had guided me through movement many moons ago! Farming is hard on the body, and it’s a field where you often find yourself pushing to do more, even when you feel completely exhausted. Our crew at Two Boots skews a bit older than the average small farm crew (it seems as though small farms are largely powered by people in their early 20s), so we’re especially appreciative of anything that can keep us in shape to do this work for as many years as we can!

If you’re interested in signing up for the workshop, find it on our website’s workshop page. Please note, this workshop is partially grant funded and intended for farmers.

Poppies, delphinium, scabiosa, stock, and more poppies— coming soon!

Our seedling sale continues!

As always, we have multiple pickup locations in Baltimore, DC, and Carroll County. This year we have an order minimum of $24. For folks who pick up on the farm, we’re offering a 10% discount for on-farm pickup, use the code 2BOOTSPICKUP at checkout.

Find additional details about the Plant Sale on our website.

The seedlings we grow for our annual plant sale are all varieties we’ve grown ourselves and know to perform well in this region. Everything is grown in our greenhouse using organic methods. We take great pride and joy in sending healthy plants into the world, and do our best to maintain quality and grow vigorous seedlings.

We’ve also got merch available! All merchandise is made-to-order and ships to your home. Check out the Two Boots merch shop here.

Spooky, guarding our precious seedling sale peppers.

We’re pleased to say that we’ll be returning to the JFX market once again this year, and we’ll be back for the market’s opening day, Sunday, April 7th, just over a week from today!

Happy Spring,
