Cooling Off
Greetings!
It’s been a wonderful week at Two Boots. After Wednesday’s brutal heat, we’re looking towards days that actually feel like Fall, and we soaked in every second of Thursday’s all-day drizzle. Things have really slowed down on the farm, and it’s a relief after a busy pawpaw season!
We had a bit of time on Thursday to sit down and reflect on what worked and what didn’t do so well on the farm this year. It’s nice to be able to think about these things and get some notes down while there are still crops in the field— often times we’re doing this in December or January, when the memory isn’t so fresh! We make a concerted effort to take good notes of what’s happening on the farm throughout the year, but when the season is in full swing, sometimes we forget, and then we find ourselves making mistakes we could have prevented the following year. Making time for reflection is so critical to what we do on the farm, and to our own lives. As the season changes, I hope that you are all able to take time to reflect, meditate, and find whatever it is that you need to carry you through the coming months.
This week at the JFX market we will have arugula, ginger, head lettuce, radishes, shishito peppers, spring mix, hakurei turnips, and bouquets.
