Just Cruising
Hello, farm friends!
To be quite honest with you, there’s not much to say this week. We’re cruising along, slow and steady. With these short, cool days, the crops have really begun to slow down their growth. Last week we were overwhelmed with abundance, and suddenly we’re looking around and realizing that there’s really not that much left in the fields! We’re just wrapping things up and making plans for the months to come. Until frost comes, we’ll still have flowers to harvest, and once frost comes, we’ll still have some flowers and produce available, but the selection becomes much more limited at that point. Since we don’t have a heated greenhouse and only have two high tunnels (which are primarily dedicated to overwintered spring flowers), our capacity to grow in the coldest months is quite limited. And of course, we appreciate the break, and we think the fields appreciate the time spent in cover crop.
For the time being, we’ll still be at the JFX market weekly and we’ll be bringing what flowers and produce we do have! And, as we do every fall, we’ll have our handmade wreaths available. This week we’ll be bringing some autumn dried flower leaves, and soon we will have our grapevine and evergreen wreaths available as well.
This week at the JFX market we will have arugula, ginger, head lettuce, radishes, shishito peppers, spring mix, and bouquets.
