Mid-July Madness
Greetings, friends!
We’ve reached the hottest point in the year and the summer produce and flowers have kicked into full swing! We’re harvesting loads of eggplant, squash, and cucumbers, and the tomatoes and peppers are just beginning to ripen up. It’s finally time to enjoy the bright flavors of summer! Our crops are looking healthy and the farm is bursting with color.
This week we’ve spent a lot of time focused on crop maintenance. We’re staking and trellising peppers and eggplant, netting and pinching flowers, and doing as much weeding as we possible can. With the intense heat we’ve experienced recently, we’ve also spent a lot of time troubleshooting our irrigation system so we can be sure that all of our crops receive ample water. From mid-July to late August we’ll spend the vast majority of our time harvesting and maintaining our crops. Despite the heat, we love this time of year, and we’re so happy to be able to share the harvest with you all.
We hope you’re all staying safe and spending some time outdoors enjoying the summer!
We’ll be returning to the Baltimore Farmers’ Market once again this weekend. The market runs from 7:00-12:00.
We’ve also decided to continue attending the market at Johnny’s. We’re grateful for you ongoing support and look forward to seeing you there! We’ll be there Sunday from 8:00-11:00 am.
