Two Boots Farm

A family run farm and floral design studio in Hampstead, Maryland. We grow a wide variety of cut flowers and produce. We also have over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. We use ecologically sustainable practices so that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil.

Flower Mart Weekend

Greetings, farm friends!

We are in the midst of the busiest two weeks of our season and time continues to fly. With all of the hustle and bustle on the farm this week, we’re exhausted! Everything on the farm is looking good, and we somehow managed to squeeze in a little bit of field work this week in between harvesting and Flower Mart prep. We also enjoyed a movement workshop on Monday, taught by Cynthia Flores, who specializes in functional movement training for farmers. It was a great reminder to move our bodies with more intention as we toil in the fields.

We’re on the tail end of yet another spring heat wave, and everything is suddenly in bloom. Our crew has worked overtime this week, and we’re looking forward to what will feel like a relatively relaxed week for Mother’s Day.

Flower Mart is this Friday and Saturday. We’ll be in Mount Vernon, loaded up with everything you need for your summer garden and lots of bouquets and bunches of flowers for your home. Like clockwork, the first peonies of the season will make their debut just in time for the occasion!

We are hoping that the rain holds off until Saturday night so that everyone is able to enjoy a full day of flower and plant related festivities. If you’ve never been to Flower Mart before, it’s certainly worth a stop. The festival was founded in 1911 by the Women’s Civic League and is now hosted by the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy. It’s quite a wholesome, enjoyable springtime experience. There are workshops, vendors selling plants, flowers, and art, and the famous traditional Flower Mart lemon stick! The parklets surrounding the monument are set up with strages and performances throughout the day. Even as a person who often struggles to enjoy the hustle and bustle of festivals I think Flower Mart is quite the treat!

Here’s my recommendation for a very Baltimore Saturday: stop by the Waverly Market for your weekly veggies and breakfast from Blacksauce, followed by a trip to Canton Waterfront to watch the Kinetic Sculpture Race, and then head over to Flower Mart to shop for plants, have a drink or a lemon stick, and enjoy some music. And, if you’re lucky, you’ve already got a ticket to the sold-out Crankie Fest at the Creative Alliance.

Whatever you choose to do, enjoy the weekend!

Lots of good blooms just in time for Flower Mart!

Thanks to all who placed plant sale orders this year! Seedlings went out to their homes this week, and we’re thrilled to know they’re now in your loving hands. Enjoy planting season!

Just a few of the bouquets we’ve got ready for the weekend.

We’re at Flower Mart on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th from 11:00-8:00, and back at the Baltimore Farmers Market this Sunday,May 5th, from 7:00- 12:00!

Ranununculus is blooming strong, but not for long thanks to the heat wave.

A very full delivery van.
