Two Boots Farm

A family run farm and floral design studio in Hampstead, Maryland. We grow a wide variety of cut flowers and produce. We also have over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. We use ecologically sustainable practices so that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil.

Finally, some sunshine

Hello!

What a beautiful day we enjoyed Thursday. We’ve been scrambling all week to pack seedling orders, organize our Mother’s Day florist orders, and get the farm tucked in before this weekend’s cold snap, and the sunshine was just the thing we needed to boost our moods and energy. This is always one of the busiest weeks of the year on our farm, and this year has been no different!

The flower harvests this week were absolutely stunning, just in time for Mother’s Day!

The flower harvests this week were absolutely stunning, just in time for Mother’s Day!

Most years, in addition to selling hundreds of flowers and seedlings, we use the week of Mother’s Day to plant things like tomatoes, peppers, and dahlias in the field. We’ve got seedlings pouring out of the greenhouse right now, and we’re dying to get them in the ground! Unfortunately, with the cold snap predicted this weekend, we’ve had to push back planting and focus on getting tender annuals that are already in the field covered with row cover. We’re looking at a low of 31 degrees on Saturday morning! I can’t remember such a cold May.

If you’ve got tomatoes, peppers, or other summer crops that are ready to be planted, consider waiting a few more days and bringing the seedlings into your home at night to protect them from the cold. If you’re in the city, you’re in better shape than those of us growing in more rural areas, but it’s still a good idea to keep them out of the cold just in case! If you’ve already planted summer crops in your garden, you can protect them with row cover if you have it, or an old, lightweight sheet.

We’ve still got a small selection of seedlings available in our online store, and we’ve been supplying bouquets weekly through Woodberry Kitchen’s web-store. For produce, head to Chesapeake Farm to Table, and keep an eye on our social media, where we’ll announce additions to our own online shop from time to time. We’re still learning how to navigate this new world of online, contact-less sales, so please bear with us as we figure this out! We deeply appreciate your ongoing support and enthusiasm.
