Flower Mart!
Greetings, farm friends!
It’s Flower Mart week, our wildest week of the year! We sent out all of our plant sale orders this week and now we’re ready for a busy weekend. Thank you to all who ordered plants from our online seedling sale. We’re very grateful for your support, and endlessly appreciative of all of you who were so patient as we worked out kinks in our system and made delivery errors. We’ve got a small crew and this week was absolutely one for the books! With delivering seedling orders, harvesting for one of our biggest florist sales weeks ever, and preparing for Flower Mart, we were completely slammed. And yet, somehow, our incredible crew managed to get a few things planted!
We’re looking forward to next week, which will be busy but a cinch compared to this week. The weather will be lovely and we’ve got the Cylburn Market Day on Friday and Saturday, and our on-farm plant sale on Sunday! Sunday is also Mother’s Day, so we’ll be sending as many bouquets as we can possibly churn out to our markets over the weekend. When we’re not frantically harvesting and putting together bouquets, we’ll be planting up a storm. The first two weeks of May are our busiest planting weeks of the season, during which all of our early summer flowers get planted. We’re excited for the weather to warm up and for the farm to fill up with verdant beauty!
Karen was the glue that held the seedling sales together this year. We truly couldn’t have made it happen without her!!! Her attention to detail and organizational skills are incredible, and we are so grateful to have her on the farm. Here she is after finally finishing pulling seedlings for the week.
Bouquets!
Flower Mart starts today!
We’re bringing everything we can possibly squeeze into our two delivery vans. For the best selection of seedlings, come on Friday. Though we’ll continue bringing seedlings to market for as many weeks as we can, last year we’d pretty much sold out of tomatoes, peppers, and most of our flower seedlings by the end of Flower Mart.
If you make it out to Flower Mart, be sure to check out our friend Rosa’s table! Rosa designed our beautiful Two Boots merch and she’ll be vending as Rosaful Garden. On Saturday she’s also offering a workshop on making Lotus Lanterns with natural pigments.
There are loads of other great vendors and workshops to check out over the weekend, it’ll be a blast.
Flower Mart runs May 5-6th from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm in Mount Vernon.
Peonies have arrived, and we’re bringing them to Flower Mart!
Upcoming Events
May 5th-6th: Flower Mart. We’re bringing loads of seedlings, bouquets, peonies, ranunculus and merch.
April 23rd: Baltimore Farmers’ Market under the JFX. We’ll have bouquets, ranunculus, shiitakes, seedlings, and Two Boots Merch.
